Hi Everyone,
Unlike most of the state, the Salisbury area received only a few inches of snow, and the Salisbury CBC went on as scheduled on Sunday, 20 December 2009.
A belated report of some highlights from the count, which is compiled by Sam Dyke...
Sam Dyke and Joann Wilber turned up an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW at the Sandy Hill Campground.
A LINCOLN'S SPARROW and a VESPER SPARROW were reported from the Somerset County portion of the count circle. I don't have specific location details for these birds, but I'm sure we can get them if anyone is interested.
Carol G. and I had several highlights at the Salisbury Landfill. At the large pond west of the landfill itself: CACKLING GOOSE (1), NORTHERN SHOVELER (1), RING-NECKED DUCK (1, we don't always get this species), and AMERICAN PIPIT (3 along the edge of the pond). Also 1 first cycle GLAUCOUS GULL at the landfill itself.
Have fun,
Ron Gutberlet
