Dear All

I did a quick run round the TB/Hains/Anacostia yesterday afternoon. The snow ploughists have done a fine job in our 'hood but Hains Pt is not open and still snowy.

No birds of particular note. There were about 500 Canada Geese aroundwith a bunch grazing on exposed turf on the northern end of the golf course. Surprisingly there was nothing else whatsoever feeding on the exposed grass not even a Starling, let alone a Horned Lark. There were about a dozen Pied-billed Grebes scattered about, 1 Ruddy on the Anacostia, 1 Lesser Scaup and two Coots in the Washington Channel - yawn - and the only gulls of note were a few more Greater Black back on the 'costia than when I last looked a week ago.

The easy high spot was raptor action in the form of two Peregrines chasing and successfully catching a Starling on the Anacostia. The poor sturnus was plucked atop one of the Osprey nests whilst still kicking and screaming.

Then an hour of traffic to get home...

Cheers
