I am staying in today, the wind and cold is just awful. I can stay warm in house and still count my project feederwatch birds.

Yesterday wasanother cold and windy day I had 22 American Goldfinches on my feeders. They manage to hang on with the wind blowing the feeder around. It has been the largest group of birds I have had in my yard for awhile. They brought back memories of last years Pine Siskins. Next largest group of my yard birds would be the Junco, Mourning doves and Titmouse. At least 6 of the piggy Starlings too. Other regulars are Bluejays, Cardinals, Chickadees, Carolina Wren, White Breasted Nuthatch, Downy Woodpeckers, RedBellied Woodpeckers, White Throated Sparrows and the huge American Crows that manage big bites of suet.

I seem to be missing the Pine Warbler and the RedBreasted Nuthatch of prior winters.
