Hi All on Sunday 1 - 10 - 10 the Talbot County Bird Club held their first outing for 2010 . Five hardy Birders set out lead by Danny Poet Our goal was to scour the Fields of Caroline County near Ridgely Maryland For Horned Larks , Pipits Lapland Longspurs and Snow Bunting . With the recent Snow Cover we set out with high Hopes . Our hopes were dashed field after field road after road as the flocks of Horned Larks were scattered in small flocks of 1 to 2 with one flock of 15 birds . The other field birds were not to be found . To quote Les Roslund " we will Take What Nature gives " and it did provide see list below At about 9:30 Am We decieded to leave there head north to northern Queen Annes County to have a go at the Northern Shrike hanging out there We did have some decent looks at the Shrike . We ended the day with 31 Species .
several bird Club members mentioned seeing Longspurs in a flock of Horned Larks near Coveys Landing road and Lewistown road on 1 - 09 - 10 so when the group broke off I went there and was soon joined By Dave Palmer . where we did locate a large Horned Lark flock and Dave saw a Lapland Longspur and I located a second we
located a total of three . Fun was had by all .
