Dear All
Frank Hawkins and I checked the Tidal Basin at first light today and were pleased to find a nice pack of gulls on the ice there, about 1000 birds, roughly 50:50 Ringers vs large gulls. They were quite well positioned and despite the early light we were able to get a good look at the birds. Unfortunately there was no sign of last week's Yellow-legged type gull, nor any white-winged types but we did total up five Lesser Black backs, three adults one second winter and one first winter. The birds did hang around longer than usual and we left at about 7.25am having satisfied oursleves there was nothing there of further interest.
Cheers
