After leaving the shore, Bob Ringler, Jim Stasz and I drove inland to
the Salisbury Landfill to look at the gulls there this afternoon. We
initially received permission from the folks in the entrance shack and
the weigh station to go in and observe the gulls. After about half an
hour or so, one of the facility's trucks was driven up to us and the
driver informed us that as of about a week or so ago, it was decided
that the landfill would no longer be accommodating birders inside the
fences. We were informed that everyone at the facility had no yet gotten
the word and that was the reason that we had mistakenly been allowed to
enter. It was cited that liability issues caused this decision to be made.
It looks as though we have lost another place to go and search the gulls.
