Hi Everybody:
Before work on the morning of Thurs., Jan. 21st I scanned the Potomac River first from Riley's Lock and then from Violette's Lock. At Riley's I could see a close-knit flock of ducks south of Riley's Lock but do to looking into the rising sun I could not ID them. I then drove down to Violette's lock and the flock had settled in just above the rapids about 2/3 of the way across the Potomac River towards the VA. side. I counted 22 REDHEADS . They were actively diving for the 20 minutes or so that I was there (7:40 - 8:00 AM). I did not see ant other waterfowl on the river.
