This is my second year doing this section (miles 42-41,
41-40, and 40-39 -- I started upstream from the Monocacy
Aquaduct and walked down). Highlights: 2 BARRED OWLS
singing at the start, all the woodpeckers apart from
Red-headed, 1 EASTERN PHOEBE, 1 BROWN CREEPER, and 1 WINTER
WREN. Here's my complete summary (if you want the mile
breakdown, e-mail me or check the Audubon site). After each
entry is the count difference compared to last year (e.g.
[+3] means I saw 3 more of this species than last year; [*]
means I didn't see the species last year). Seen last year
but not this year: Black Vulture, Bald Eagle, Sharp-shinned
Hawk, Common Raven, Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, Hermit Thrush, and
Swamp Sparrow.
