Hi everyone,

I was able to get out of work in time to chase the Common Mergansers
found earlier in the day by Jim Stasz at Shelltown Landing in Somerset
County. I arrived around 5:00pm and observed a male and female Common
Merganser feeding next to the docks south of the landing on the
Somerset side of the river. Other birds present included Lesser
Scaup, Bufflehead, and a Ruddy Duck. On Wright's Corner Rd there were
two American Woodcock feeding along the road edge. 125 Snow Geese
were also seen feeding in a field on Shelltown Rd. north of the
landing. This is the largest concentration of Snow Geese I have seen
in Somerset County. Once again I would like to thank Jim Stasz for
finding the mergs and getting me a much desired county closeout.
