A Red-headed Woodpecker showed up today, giving me some blessed relief from staring at the snowpack.
The bird visited the feeder numerous times, holding its own against the cardinals and grackles. It took peanut halves to the nearby elm and feasted.
After about 40 minutes, it hiked up high in the elm and that's the last I've seen of it.
