In response to Donald Sweig's query The Narrows Ferry Bridge, which joins upper and middle Hooper's Island, is a good Common Goldeneye spot. Park on the somewhat precarious pullout s. of the bridge on the w. side and look around, esp. to the north. Sometimes the views are quite close. I saw c. 80 in this area Feb. 3 but that was the result of an 11-hour effort in the greater H.I. area. In my experience the area n. of the bridge is not as good for COGO. It is possible to look down on COGO from the top of this bridge but there are "no parking" signs. Not recommended. - Harry Armistead, Philadelphia.
