I took a ride up River Rd, turn right on Hughes, right on Sugarland and
eventually ended up at Germantown Soccerplex. I was really surprised by
the lack of birds along the entire route.

Lydia Schindler and I did part of this route 3 or 4 days after big snow
in December and must have had 250+ juncos and more that 300
White-throated Sparrows plus assorted other birds. Today, had maybe 7
White-throateds, 10 juncos, 10 Songs and a Fox Sparrow, some cardinals
and mockingbirds.

Not sure where they went. Maybe roadsides are picked clean and birds are
feeding elsewhere or the birds have moved on deciding Mont Co not the
place to be this winter. Wish the snow would melt to a reasonable level
so I could get out in field and take a look around.
