MD Osprey:
The least fun part of my job as MD/DC Records Committee Secretary is
"wrangling" in documentation for reviewable MD and DC sightings,
especially for multiple sightings at different places for either the
same or different birds, by different observers ... !!! "Closure" is
the bane of my existence!
I am trying to figure out the status and close the files on the spate
of Assateague Brown Booby (BRBO) sightings from last July/Aug so the
committee can review the reported sightings. BRBO would be a new
species for the MD State List.
Below is what I know ... if you have any additional information to
contribute to the files (reports, photos, anecdotes, etc.) please let
me know. Please include the MD/DCRC accession number (preferably) in
the subject line on any emails about these sightings. If you have
info on multiple sightings, recognize that I file them separately, so
either use separate email messages or clearly use the associated
MD/DCRC accession number(s) in the body of your message. If you quote
this message in any replies, feel free to cut out the general
information and just include my sighting synopses, below. I'm rather
busy with a client project at the moment, so any acknowledgements
back to you may be somewhat terse right now. Thanks, in advance, for
your help and support!
My objective is to obtain any missing or outstanding information on
these sightings. If I already have your info/status correct, there is
no need to respond ... I think off-list responses would probably be
appropriate unless you have info that should be shared with the entire list.
Here's what I am trying to determine:
Are the observers correct and complete?
Are the dates and times correct?
Are any more notes/details forthcoming?
Are any more photos forthcoming?
Are "possible" sightings to be considered as reviewable?
Does the MD/DCRC have the permission to use all MD Osprey emails and
web images as inputs (not an issue with MD/DCRC "regular contributors")?
MD/2009-070; 7/19 between 7:05 and 10:45 am; ORV Zone; reported as a
"possible BRBO"
R Gutberlet email that includes B Hubick's eBird report with a
description; no photos.
Should this be reviewed as a BRBO?
MD/2009-071; 7/22; around 7 am; start of the ORV zone; reported as a
"possible" BRBO
F Jacobson: email traffic and four web images were downloaded.
Other observers?
Should this be reviewed as a BRBO? The MD/DCRC at least needs the
photographer's permission to use the photos for a review; permission
has been requested but no response has been received.
