Hi All,
The roads were still less than passable on Chesapeake Farms so we
started our trip at Chesapeake Farms' HQ road and headed eastward
towards Langford on Ricaud's Branch Road. We managed to locate 54
species for the outing till 1:30 PM. At Chesapeake Farms we saw 2
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS on the HQ road, a Brown Thrasher, 2 Eastern
Towhees, and a Ruby -crowned Kinglet. Around Langford we had a cock
RING-NECKED PHEASANT just east of Baker's Lane, 13 bluebirds, 2 Brown
Thrashers, just one Savannah Sparrow (on MD-446), 6 EASTERN MEADOWLARKS
(4 on Pentridge Rd & 2 on Langford Rd), and, best, a sub-adult GOLDEN
EAGLE flying over Pentridge Rd (a Red-taied Hawkl tipped us off by
flying over to harass it). In Rock Hall we found a single PIED-BILLED
GREBE in the harbor, 4 Fish Crows (finally reappearing after over a
month's absence), a Double-crested Cormorant in Gratitude, and 2
Green-winged Teal and 4 Common Mergansers at Spring Cove Landing. Nice
to be out on such a sunny and (relatively) warm winter's day.
Good birding,
