Hi all --

What is better for the first day out birding after Snowmaggedon than a
couple of rare-bird twitches? We started the morning joining several other
birders enjoying coffee, donuts and a lovely male VARIED THRUSH in Herndon,
VA. (contact info on VA-Birds, also accessed through Siler's web site
www.birdingnthe.net).

Home for a few hours doing clean-up shoveling and banging giant icicles off
the eaves and siding, with a break to watch the Olympics (seems to be an
great opportunity here to to start exporting snow to Vancouver).

Then in the afternoon, our appointment with the lovely male PAINTED BUNTING
in Bowie. Our arrangement was for 4 PM and we were there and the Bunting
obliged by immediately coming in. It made a longer visit about a half-hour
later. In the meantime we enjoyed two AMERICAN TREE Sparrows at the feeder.
Contact info for visiting the Bunting has been posted on MDOsprey.

Thanks to hosts Steve (Thrush) and Dorothy (Bunting) for a great day!
