OT: Military Bases as Havens for Wildlife

On the front page of this morning's New York Times (print edition), there is
a very interesting article on the efforts of the military to preserve
threatened and endangered species on its bases.  Here is a link to the

If you go to www.nytimes.com, you can watch a five-minute video on the
topic, which includes some nice footage of Red-cockaded Woodpeckers.

I'm not sure if the lighthouse at Point Lookout counts as a military
installation, but I got some great looks at a single female/immature SNOW
BUNTING there yesterday morning.
