Are there any hybrids of house finches and purple finches?   I have been seeing a bird in my backyard for three days that I just cannot decide on.  I usually depend on looking for the the brown streaks on the chest and flanks for the house finches, but this one just does not have any.  On the other hand I do not feel that he is quite rosy enough on the back and wings to fit purple finch.  Not knowing much about hybridization, I though I would ask the experts.  Thanks.
