Peter Osenton and I ran into an extremely large flock of geese near in the field between Handy Point Rd and Great Oak Landing Rd yesterday.  The geese consisted predominately of snow, but there were a scattering of Canada's and at least one cackling present.  We also spotted a goose that immediately looked like a greater white-fronted goose.  We had great scope views of the bird and everthing was spot on for a GWFG, including pink bill, pinkish/orange legs, size close to hat of the nearby snow's, prominant white front, speckled belly (albeit litely) except for one mark.  It had what appeared to be a broken orbital ring.  We then started thinking of a hybrid, but the bird did not have the prominant white cheek expected in a Canada cross and it did not have prominant splotches of white that would suggest a cross with a snow goose.  It also did not have the stocky/thick frame of a graylag.  If this bird was a hybrid, it was exhibiting
traits that were almost entirely GWFG.  Unfortunately the entire flock "rearranged" themselves before I was able to get a shot with my camera phone and we were not able to relocate the bird.  Does anyone have any thoughts or perhaps has seen this trait?

Thanks,
Dave
