I spent most of the day birding the western side of Kent County looking for ducks and scanning the bay where ever possible. Highlights of the day:
-Two Golden Eagles flying in a northerly direction over Chesapeake Farms today. The first was a immature bird and the second was an adult that flew over 10 mins later. The several 1000 Canada Geese saw both birds well before I did. When I saw their heads all go up, I looked up and sure enough a Golden Eagle was flying by.
-One adult Lesser Black-backed Gull roosting on the boat docks in the Rock Hall Harbor with the usual mix of other gulls.
-Eight Wood Ducks in a small pond off of Still Pond Neck rd.
-67 Common Mergansers on Still Pond Creek.
