Hi Everybody:
I did another run after work today starting at Riley's Lock to check the Potomac Riverand then on to Hughes Hollow and finished on Sycamore Landing Road.

Highlights included 162 TUNDRA SWANS noisily lifting off from the river just above Violette's Lock at 5:25 PM and flying north past Riley's Lock. It was a beautiful sight as they gained elevation. There were several motorboats on the river moving back and forth so there were very few ducks except for a number lingering very close to Violette's Lock. I did see:

2 Mallards
8 Amer. Wigeon
8 Bufflehead
5 Scaup (sp.)
51 Redheads
4 Horned Grebes
The entire 20 minutes or so that I was at Riley's Lock there were one, possibly two BARRED OWLS calling off and on the whole time I was there.

Hughes Hollow was very quiet with continuing high levels in the large impoundment on the right. I saw:

2 Black Ducks
2 Mallards
2 Amer. wigeon
7 Hooded Mergansers

In the 2nd impoundment on the west side I heard more A. Wigeon and numerous Wood Ducks. Red-winged Blackbirds were noisy and seem to be increasing in numbers. I also saw 3 TREE SWALLOWs and 1 SWAMP SPARROW.

Onto Sycamore Landing Road where the first field just off the road on the right had 1 displaying Amer. Woodcock; there was also a single bird displaying on the opposite side of Syc. Land. Rd. as well. A BARRED OWL called several times before I left.
