If anyone ever finds themselves at a loss for House Sparrows, you have an open invitation to visit my yard, specifically my back porch. Maybe they followed me home from MacDonald's once upon a time when I visited there a lot. Or from one of my numerous visits to Dunkin Donuts during the days of pursuing the South River Bridge Peregrine. I don't know, but there they are - a dozen or more happily doing their part to end the decline of their species! And feasting on fat black oil sunflower seeds.
I was just discussing yesterday, with a friend, the need for serious population control of my resident House Sparrows. And how impossible that will be, given my soft heart.
I know, it's no painted bunting, but I do what I can to help my birding friends......
