Encouraged by Marcy's reports, I finally got to Oxbow Lake
(first visit this year). Started pretty late (4:30 pm), but
gradually some good variety started to appear. Ducks
included AMERICAN WIGEON, NORTHERN SHOVELER, GREEN-WINGED
TEAL, and HOODED MERGANSER. Other highlights included an
EASTERN PHOEBE and a singing PINE WARBLER (also seen) close
together at the southwestern tip of the lake. A HERMIT
THRUSH was difficult to see in the thorny bushes nearby.
