Except that the easiest place to find House Sparrows in St. Mary's are at major shopping centers. Often you can find them actually inside of Lowe's! During the atlas, we confirmed House Sparrow as our first confirmed species where they were nesting inside of one of the letters of the Food Lion sign.

I have a hypothesis for this, based on the fact that SE Charles & NW St. Mary's counties have a good population of Amish and, thus, a good population of horses. Since House Sparrows are experts at extracting undigested grain from horse manure, that may be why the birds seldom stray from the farms. 

Just a hypothesis, mind you.
