I just returned from looking for the Thick-billed Murre, but had no luck. Looked all over starting around 7:30, and when I couldn't find it feeding in any open areas, I looked in many nooks and crannies (around marinas etc.) but had no luck. I saw many good birds but nothing that has not been reported recently. I saw quite a few birders (~12 in 7 different parties) looking for it also. Of note was a flight of Gannets. Although I did not put much time on it (~10 minutes), I counted 78 flying south, in singles or small groups of 2 or 3, up to 8 that was in one group. I think the number could have been very high depending on how long this had been going on before I noticed, or continued much after I stopped counting (I wanted to find the Murre!).
On the return, at a Wicomico Co location north of Rt50 and ~ 2-300 yards east of Rockawalkin Rd, I saw a large group of gulls in what looked like a turf farm. I saw many Laughers, so I pulled over at a produce stand conveniently located there, which was not open but had ample parking. I scoped the flock and found 115 Laughing Gulls (all but 5 were in breeding plumage), 1 Bonaparte's, 1 (adult) Lesser Black-backed, over 500 Ringers, about 35 Herring Gulls.
I stopped at Kent Narrows also, and saw the Tufted Duck at 1:30pm, along with 34 Lesser Scaup.
Good luck!
