Location: Oxbow Lake
Observation date: 3/31/10
Notes: What a diffeence a day makes. Today it was sunny and warm (67
degrees) with winds out of the west at 10 mph. Joined Jay Sheppard who refound
the Green-winged Teal integrade feeding near the outlet channel that runs
through the peninsula and empties into the lake. The SOLITARY SANDPIPER was also
found there, and eventually the Greater Yellowlegs and Killdeer joined the
group. Watched from afar the Red-shouldered Hawk on her nest. We're hoping this
year they are successful. The two PIED-BILLED GREBE were cowing at us from
across the lake. At least 9 PECTORAL SANDPIPER were out in the open on the mud
in the general area of Gallinule Point (the tip of peninsula that juts out into
the lake from the north side).<br>
