Weather: A few clouds in the morning gave way to sunny skies; 51-70 degrees;
excellent visibility; winds strong from the NW or WNW, 9-18 mph, gusting to
29 mph.
Raptor Observations: Best day of the season thus far with good showings of Ospreys,
Northern Harriers, Cooper's Hawks, American Kestrels and Merlins. Several Bald
Eagles, but none moving north. Five Harriers flying from Bodkin Point over the
water toward Fort Howard.
Non-raptor Observations: First Purple Martins and Northern Rough-winged Swallows
of the season; over 250 Tree Swallows; 15 Red-breasted Mergansers; about a dozen
migrant Northern Flickers.

Site Description:
Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest. The Park is closed to visitors on Wednesdays. |
