Location: Oxbow Lake
Observation date: 4/3/10
Notes: 5 birders standing at the observation area directly across from
Gallinule Point at Oxbow Lake. Around 10:15 a.m., I saw a large black bird drop
into the northwest corner of the lake, Lisa Stobel heard a "croak", and Warren
Strobel put his scope onto a large black bird that flew into a tree on the
northeast edge of the lake, saying he had a Raven. Lisa and I took a look and
confirmed. By the time Jay Sheppard got his scope on it, the raven had flown.
Both Lisa and Knute confirmed they saw two Ravens flying to the south (this is
in the general direction of the Laurel Park Racecourse). Warren immediately
posted on MDOSPREY. There were three other birders who visited the Oxbow this
morning, too. Paul Baicich left before the arrival of the raven.
