The Horned Lark at Harford County Airpark (Churchville) was singing his
little heart out in dense fog this morning. I don't know how much of the
attraction for a female Horned Lark is the flight display vs. the song, but
I can only assume he figured the humid air would carry the sound well even
though any females on the ground couldn't see a thing. That was about the
densest fog I've ever experienced. Now that the sun is out, I can see a male
Goldfinch as bright as a buttercup in the yard.

My big miss this spring so far is Phoebe-we've had a male in our yard every
March for the past 5-6 years. Not this year.
