With Squirrel Corn and Virginia Bluebells blooming, Louisiana
Waterthrushes singing from every stream, and on the Eastern Shore
there is not a Snow Goose in sight; it must be Spring.
Unfortunately, the end of last week didn't give us south winds or we
probably would have entered April with a few more birds on the comp
list. As of April 1st the MD Comp List was set at 211 species. I
think Bill told me last year we had reached this number in February.
Even though our numbers are lower than last year, due mainly to the
heavy snows and freezing temperatures of January and February, good
birds are still being found like the Tufted Duck spotted by Ron
Gutberlet at Kent Narrows. Please keep the comp list in mind when you
are out birding in the next weeks and please email Bill Hubick or
myself if you have any corrections or comments.

The updated MD Comp List can be viewed on Bill Hubick's website @
