4/4/10
Paused by the stream yesterday, and heard my first Louisiana Waterthrush. Hiked the trail to the BGE rightofway today, and counted at least 3 waterthrushes, two of which were actively trying to defend the best spot, where two streams meet. Easy to see when they're chipping, singing and displaying.
Heard a ruby-crowned kinglet and a yellow-throated warbler, and saw two spring azure butterflies.
This trail is so soggy it requires rubber boots. Of course I tripped and got muddy all over...
At the BG&E right-of=way I sat on a log and gazed at death and destruction. (vegetation cut and herbicided) where once I watched fox, wild turkey and bobwhite. At least I heard two field sparrows and a mocker.
