Stephanie Lovell and I make a circle of Queen Anne's, Talbot, Wicomico and Somerset Counties yesterday (4/5) visiting Chesapeake Environmental Center (Horsehead), Pickering Creek Audubon, Adkins Mill Park and Deal Island WMA. Some highlights below:

Chesapeake Environmental Center(Horsehead), Queen Anne's Co
13 Green-winged Teal
1 Canvasback
5 Lesser Scaup
2000+ Ruddy Duck
1 Greater Yellowlegs
Someone from Horsehead told us that a pair of Horned Owls had appropriated an old Bald Eagle nest and now had two owlets. We found the nest for quite a while, but did not see any owls. Our disappointment was eased by watching a pair of Brown-headed Nuthatch busy working a hole in a dead limb.

1 Yellow-throated Warbler (County bird for me)
2 Pine Warbler
