Back in the 70's Steve was my mentor, and a great guy to bird with.  As a
bander and photographer he had some fabulous pictures of birds he had
banded.  He had keen ears and memory for bird calls.  

 

I remember the time in May 1978 when we were birding in Glen Artney in
Baltimore County (possibly his favorite spot), and he heard a bird he
couldn't immediately identify, so we chased it down and it was a spring
Mourning Warbler.  He was that kind of guy.
