This coming Saturday, there is a great opportunity to bird in the South River Greenway (see below). This site is the largest intact forest block in Anne Arundel County and is not usually open to the public. It is also an Important Bird Area for Forest-Interior Dwelling Species. Although it is still a bit early to see many of the forest warblers, like Kentucky and Hooded that are so common at the site, it is well worth a visit to enjoy this habitat and early-arriving migrants.

The Scenic Rivers Land Trust, who organize this hike, is doing a wonderful job of protecting prime forest habitat in the Greenway. Dan Haas is on the Board of this group and I imagine may be leading one or two of the trips.

Go and enjoy this gen of a site this weekend!
