On a late starting search for early morel mushrooms, I heard the LA
WATERTHRUSH at two locations and briefly saw one; otherwise,
the rather meager gleanings of other, unremarkable species made
for a humdrum 4 mi. walk [the SongFinder did the honors]. One
down note: The Red-shouldered Hawk nest, located about midway
between the footbridge and the Landing to the south, appears to be
abandoned. No fresh foliage and no activity.

While I was at it, I vectored west into the pine barrens and success-
fully spotted a no. of Falcate Orange Tip Butterflies checking out
the Lyre-leaved Rock Cress. Also seen elsewhere, a no. of Tiger
Swallowtails, gobs of Cabbage Whites and a friendly Question Mark
anglewing. Oh, yeah....no morel mushrooms.
