I saw my first flyover Chimney Swift (single bird) on Monday, April 12 here in Woodbine, Carroll County. It seemed early so I checked my records; April 8 & 10, 1999 (Montgomery County) and April 8, 2000 (Montgomery County). Also one other April 12 record, so not too early.
Yesterday and today, a pair of Brown Thrashers are hanging out by the garden and feeders, in the dogwood tree, etc. Last year I think they nested in one of our large holly trees. And I have a pair of mockers that are coming to my peanut feeder (what's up with that!).

Subject: [MDOSPREY] chimney swifts in Bethesda
I spotted our first two chimney swifts chittering up a storm as I ate lunch
utside this afternoon. We usually get 6-8 swifts that stay with us for the
eason but they seem to be about a week earlier than I've noted in the past. I'm
ot complaining!
