The Kent County Bird Club will hold a field trip to Sassafras NRMA and
Turner's Creek, north of Kennedyville in Kent County, on Sunday, 18
April. This state- and county-owned natural area features a variety of
habitat from woods to fields, with Sassafras River and Bay frontage. We
will search for early spring migrants - swallows, gnatcatcher, Caspian
Tern - and residents such as Osprey, Bald Eagle and Great Blue Heron.
We will meet folks at the Dollar General parking lot across from
the intersection of Spring St. and MD-213 in Chestertown at 8:00 AM. We
can also meet people at the large parking lot above the landing at
Turner's Creek at about 8:30 AM. We have planned for a half-day trip,
but could extend it to cover more of the area if participants are
interested Dress warmly and bring snack food (or lunch). We hope to see
some of you on Sunday.
Good Birding,
