Hello again,
I checked my ponds again last night after work. I had 10 Greater Yellows, 6 Lessers, 10 Solitaries (new property high count), 1 Spotted and 5 Leasts (FOS). The Solitaries certainly arrived in force. I went to check the neighbor's field (only visible from my side now, too dry to see from Kinder Rd) and found 3 Mallard, a GBH and a Little Blue Heron in the puddle. I only wish I had not charged around the corner so fast and immediately scared away the LBH. 2nd LBH record here, the first one in 2000. Returning to my pond, a male Harrier cruised over and shuffled the deck. Re-checking the shorebirds, I heard a distant rattle and thought Kingfisher, but I could not locate it. A minute later, it found me. The FOS Kingfish is #105 for the year. It was a very productive half hour of birding.
Good birding,
