After missing most of the past early migration birding week due to a
virus and a crazy busy work week the birding gods decided to throw me
a good one at Kenilworth Park in DC. An Upland Sandpiper was working
the grass fields between the first parking lot and the first
goalposts. I fired off a bunch of photos and some came out perfectly
- shots of it standing and flying. I'll post a link in a few hours -
heading over to KAG now.
I sat in the grass and let him do his thing for a while. After about
20 minutes he lifted off and flew to the south over the neighborhood.
I followed him as far as I could - he was definitely making a beeline
to somewhere.
Cheers,
Steve Hersey
