This morning I went to the shorebird site described by Brad Lanning. If you are going there do not follow the directions that were given. The site is on Route 66, not a half mile west of the traffic circle but about three quarters of a mile northeast of the traffic circle. The farm lane is not west of Horseshoe Lane but about 100 yards north of Horseshoe Lane at 10807. Birds I found there were 2 Spotted Sandpipers, 6 Solitary Sandpipers, 1 Blue-winged Teal, and 2 Pipits with a swarm of mostly Barn Swallows over the pond and flooded meadow. It is a very attractive shorebird site. There is space for no more than two cars to pull completely off the pavement at the beginning of the lane. Lighting is probably best in the afternoon. I'm sure Brad will keep us posted on further shorebird developments there.
