hello ...

i timidly ventured out after an involuntary birding hiatus, so i'm a bit rusty and still trying to find my birding legs. Apologies in advance for not catching everything!

Wood Warblers & Vireos:
- BLACK & WHITE (heard)
- HOODED (he was loud but i could not find him ... little turd :)
- RED-EYED V. (heard)
- YELLOW-RUMPED (many, warbler gang!)
There may have been a couple of other warblers but i could not ID the songs.

Other migrants:
- BLUE GRAY GNATCATCHERS
- WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS (heard)

Year-round and/or short distance "migrants":
- A. GOLDFINCH (heard)
- A. CROW
- A. ROBIN
- CANADA GEESE (pair in stream, resident)
- CAROLINA WREN (heard)
- DOWNY WOODPECKER
- GRACKLE sp.
- N. CARDINAL (heard)
- TURKEY VULTURE
... and the highlight: excellent view of a BARRED OWL!
We studied each other for a while. I talked to him, told him all about his distant cousins in San Marcos, CA: Molly, MaGee, Max, Pattison, Austin, and Wesley. (Sorry, but I have MOD. LOL!)

*** NOTE *** If you go to Milford Mill Park, please wear boots or ankle-high waterproof shoes. The trail has standing water in some sections.

cheers,
