Good morning all,
Spent a couple of hours in the yard this morning looking and listening for new arrivals. Had the following new birds: Wood Thrush (heard singing in the woods across the field), a beautiful adult White-crowned Sparrow which was just suddenly feeding on the ground under the feeders, stayed for perhaps 20 minutes then was scared off by the Blue Jays, and a FOY Purple Martin flying over. Also had 3 seperate flocks of about 45 total BOBOLINKS flying over, one flock close enough to hear their bubbling songs. A few Yellow-rumps, many singing male Baltimore Orioles (a good omen; we're going to the O's game today for my daughter's birthday), a couple of E. Kingbirds, a flyby sandpiper I think was Solitary, calling Great Crested Flycatcher, as well as most of the regulars seen yesterday, species numbering 37 as of 9 AM. Saw a more respectable (small) flock of Cedar Waxwings also.
