While birding Govern Bridge this morning, my wife spotted a Mississippi Kite gliding just above the treetops. It was about 8:30 AM. The kite circled a couple times and drifted out of sight to the northeast. Lighting wasn't great, I saw no pattern on the bird, I assume it was an adult. After waiting a few minutes with camera in hand and it not showing, we ran to the field next to the boat ramp. No luck there either. John Swartz was there and hadn't seen it. We scanned the skies for a while, producing only a passing Harrier. Three hours of birding there today produced 65 species.
Good Birding!
