Hi Folks,

I returned to General's Highway Corridor Park yesterday morning to
look for the reported Dickcissel, once again with no luck. I crossed
the road to the grassy field where Phil Davis reported a Bobolink and
did not find that either. As I was heading back to the park I looked
up to see a raptor flying in lazy circles from the south. It's jizz
told me it was a MISSISSIPPI KITE. I watched it for a couple minutes
slowly working its way to the northeast. It was very backlit and
showed almost nothing in the way of markings, so it appeared to be an
adult. I watched the bird shortly after 9 a.m. When I got home I put
the sighting into ebird.

In the early afternoon I got a call from Hans Holbrook, asking what
time I saw my kite because he and Angela had just seen one at Governor
Bridge around 8:30. His was heading to the northeast toward my
direction, and we concluded that it very well may have been the same
bird. The one I saw was heading northeast toward Fort Smallwood, and
may have been the same one seen there around 10 a.m. An interesting
chain of events made evident by having many birders out looking.

Early Sunday morning I visited Patapsco Pond #10 where I tallied four
WARBLING VIREOs and my first of year BALTIMORE ORIOLE.
