Hello Everyone,
I went to my new birding spot after work friday . I pass by Elvaton park in Millersville on my way to work every day and have regularly seen Red Tailed hawks hanging about so it was my mission to find their nest . I found the nest about a month ago and stopped there to do my check on them . Woohoo i got babies . i wasnt seeing any adults but figured one had to be in the nest . after watching for a while one flew in and landed on the tree next to and above the nest . i thought ok this is daddy checking nest . then later i watched one fly across the ballfield and land in a tree ... but daddy was still there . turns out it was mommy above the nest and daddy across the park . babies seem to be well taken care of .
I followed a flicker down one end of the park (photography .... it will kill ya ) then a Brown Thrasher back to the other end , then Great Crested flycatcher back ,then Baltimore orioles started singing (my first this year ) i heard one in every direction . and stayed just long enough to hear the Wood Thrush start singing. Fun Bird Day !
At home
Disappearing orange fish ... The Osprey come every half hour and take the orange fish from the large pond in the park beside my house .
