I hiked the AT from Weverton to the Garvey shelter and back again from 1330 to 1700. Although not primarily a birding excursion i did note when the wind allowed at the mountain top

3 Caro Chickadee
1 probably Brown Creeper heard
2-3 Bluejay
1 Black-throated Blue warbler
1 Scarlet Tanager - male
1 probable Red-eyed Vireo heard
2 GC Flycatchers heard
1 Ovenbird heard
1 Tufted Titmouse heard
2-3 Am. Crow

No box turtles or other reptiles were seen. Both Zebra (1/2 dzn) and (one) Black Swallowtail butterflies were present. Few wildflowers were evident incl no Pink Lady Slippers - think it's early for them on the MTN. Also one squirrel (probably gray) was scolding, but no chipmunks. No other rodents or mammals were seen other than 20 +/- homo sapiens of both sexes and all ages and i'm guessing more than a few mothers - HAPPY MOTHERS DAY...!!!

Having probably (?) my last fire of the season tonight...
