Howdy,

I ventured out to Blackwater NWR before the weather went pear-shaped yesterday, and made several cursory stops along Egypt, Maple Dam, and Elliott Island roads. Highlights at Blackwater were- tons of shorebirds (200+ Dunlin, Lesser/Greater Yellowlegs, Semipalmated Plovers, Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers), and Red-headed Woodpeckers squabbling near the photoblind. There was a Least Tern feeding in the pond just outside of Cambridge on Egypt Rd. I also watched a Northern Watersnake stalk a Semi Plover, an Eastern Kingsnake crossing Key Wallace Rd., and a Delmarva Fox Squirrel in the woods off Maple Dam Rd.

Full list below (my efforts on Elliott Island Rd were abbreviated by the approaching storms), and some photos have been posted to http://www.flickr.com/photos/mattyfioner/

Cheers!
Matt
