Black-billed Cuckoo in Baltimore City
Highlights of May Count in Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park included a Black-billed Cuckoo just past the Winans Meadow parking lot on the path that parallels Franklintown Road. We also had a Warbling Vireo in Winans Meadow, a Solitary Sandpiper in the Gwynns Falls; and Prairie and Pine Warblers; all uncommon birds here; and a Wood Thrush on nest. Warblers were disappointing in terms of overall numbers. Surprising misses included Ovenbirds and Black-throated Green Warblers. The numbers (compiled by Paul) are as follows:
