I visited the adventitious pond on Canning House Rd y'day at noon y'day (Monday). Car trouble prolonged my stay - a blessing in disguise. Along with species reported earlier, in reduced numbers, incl a Black-belly Plover, I was astounded to see it joined later by an Am Golden-Plover - both in full breeding plumage and often side by side - affording a great opprtunity for comparison. This must be the first Golden Plover I've ever seen in spring and is highly unusual.

Also counted were ~ 7 Semi-palm Plovers, 1 Killdeer, 2 Gr Y'legs, 7 L Y'legs, 2 Pectoral S'pipers, 8 Least S'pipers, 3 Semi-p S'pipers, and a possible Wh-r S'piper. I was using a scope w/difficulty from inside the car on acct of the narrow shoulder.

By contrast the Perryman Park impoundment held only one L Y'legs and ~30 L S'pipers, at 3 pm.
