I have been watching for new yardbirds this spring and just yesterday and today I have been seeing a Great crested Flycatcher sitting on my Weeping Cherry Tree. It was a cool looking bird with a mohawk style hairdo and a yellow belly.

Today I noticed it flying away from my yard to the reservoir trees across the drive with a clump of my dogs hair. I am glad it is being put to good use. My golden ret. has a lot of hair.

Also, I am still noticing GB Herons flying across my yard, much more than any other of the years I have lived here.

Not sure if there is a hawk around but I am constantly hearing some kind of clucking noises in the reservoir next to the house. Not sure if clucking is the right description? I was thinking it could be a squirrels nest high in the trees.

One of my neighbors seems to think they might have heard a bear last night, now that would be a cool new yard animal. I have to put my feeders away every night because of the lousy racoons. I found out that racoons love sugar water.

Beside the clucking noises, the catbird and the house wren are my two noisiest birds in my yard. I think they are trying to outdo each other. Next to them the mockingbird likes to chime in. It can be very loud when the frogs start to add their songs.

Good Birding,

Eileen,
