Joe Hanfman and I visited Henryton this morning. I was there 0630-0700, and gave up at 0700. I encountered Joe on the way out, and learned that Bonnie and I must count streams differently. By my count, the site was beyond the FIFTH stream, the only one with an exposed metal culvert. In any case, we had to console ourselves with a vocal Kentucky Warbler

Joe subsequently showed me where Ceruleans can be found at McKeldin. As we were making our way from the parking area by the basketball courts to the ridgetop, before we even got in the woods, we were astounded to have a male Cerulean land ON THE GROUND on a small pile of dirt no more than 10 yards away. I almost blew it off as an Indigo, it was somewhat obscured by intervening grass. But once we got the bins on it, we nearly felll over. And it lingered long enough for me to get the camera out and take my usual fuzzy photos. I don't think you can ask for anything better than to see a Cerulean in profile in full light, and still even get a pic!

Also there is a Yellow-throated Warbler in the vicinity of the first bridge after you cross into Carroll County from Howard.

Worm-eatings were singing all over Henryton and I encountered more along whatever the road is the parallels the stream, which Marriotsville Rd. crosses soon after entering Carroll County.

Yesterday, a Kentucky Warbler was also singing on the road into Pigtail at Triadelphia Reservoir, in HowCo.
